Conservative treatment for lumbar spondylolysis in children of elementary school age

Purpose Lumbar spondylolysis in children of elementary school age has different characteristics from those junior or senior high patients. The purpose the present study was to investigate outcomes conservative treatment for lumbar patients age. Methods We included 46 lesions 32 consecutive with fresh cases (5 girls and 27 boys; mean age, 11.3 years). examined relationship between bone union after factors such as CT axial staging, whether lesion unilateral bilateral, contralateral terminal stage, presence spina bifida occulta. Results Bone achieved 33 (72%) 23 patients, whereas 13 (28%) 9 could not obtain union. proportion (100%), significantly higher than that bilateral (20/33 lesions, 61%, p = 0.009). Of attained 20 28 (71%) without any 5 (0%) showing a significant difference stage (p 0.005). Conclusion Bilateral are possible unfavorable spondylolysis. Early diagnosis before become progressive important.
